And heading back to the hotel before the light goes.

Driven 150 miles today, paddled in a waterfall, chatted to sheep & just sat & gazed at the scenery. I'm a happy Monkey.
G'night John Boy.

I spent a summer helping to build a bungalow in Blair Atholl, north of Pitlochry. The scenery around the Trossachs and the Cairngorms is fantastic. Thanks for the Pics Andy, they have brought back many memories.

It's definitely far, far busier up here now than when I first came up, 20 years ago. Fort William was practically deserted in the evenings back then. Now it's got a thriving nightlife. The hotel bar was full of disgustingly healthy, cycling/hiking types this evening & there are motor homes everywhere. No bad thing I guess -more revenue for the locals & lots more visitors discovering the beauty that's on their own doorsteps. As long as there's still enough room for me to lose myself in the wilderness for a few days I don't mind.
So, Day Three of my mini Scottish Safari saw me catching the Coran ferry, then a second ferry over to the wonderfully named Fishnish on the Isle of Mull.
Sitting outside the café on the causeway, eating rhubarb & rosehip sponge cake & waiting for the ferry to arrive. Lovely way to start the day.

I've been watching these slowly decay for years. When the tide's in, the water lapping about inside them makes some really creepy noises. At least I think it's the water. A favourite perch for the huge Scottish Sea Eagles, but not today.

If you're too young to remember the Wombles, you may recognise the harbour -What's the story, Balamory?

While photographing this tug, I totally missed the seaplane taking off across the bay.

From there I journeyed across the island to Calgary. Absolutely crazy switchback road with hairpin bends that zig zag their way around the hills. This weekend is the annual Mull Rally, with 150 rally cars racing around the closed roads. Lots of the crews had already arrived & were out in their back up vans, driving the route.
Worth risking near death on the blind bends & summits though for this -Calgary beach. The only place I've ever seen a live Star Fish. Gorgeous pure white sand. The first time I came here with my girlfriend Sue, we sat there all day & never saw another soul.  Now there's a carpark & a café.
Toes totally relaxed now.

I could see something moving at the far end of the beach, waist deep in the water, then these 2 emerged from the waves. Ahh, sea horses.
