The regular readers here will know that for the past 4 or 5 years, we've been sponsoring a chimpanzee at MonkeyWorld, the ape rescue centre, near wareham in Dorset. We sponsor Micky the chimpanzee. In return, we get a ticket which gives free entry for one day for up to 30 people, giving us an excuse for a bit of a forum get-together at the park every April.
It started as a bit of a joke really, but I'm proud to say that in that time we've raised over £1000 towards the care of the animals there.
Well, it's adoption renewal time again folks. We donate through the group sponsorship scheme, which means we need to raise a minimum of £120. Each year so far, those forum members who want to get involved have given £10 each. It's purely voluntary, no pressure on anyone to take part & the free day out for you & your family or friends is the only reward we offer.
However, times are very definitely hard at the moment & money's tight for everyone.
So- what do you guys want to do? Are we up for this again this year? Or should we retire gracefully, having done our bit? I may run the forum, (ha, ha, harr!!), but it's you lot that make it what it is, so it's your choice. The present sponsorship needs to be renewed by the 16th of October, so we've got a month to decide & come up with the cash if we're continuing.
Taz, (Mrs Manky), & I will bung in a tenner each, so we need to find another 100 quid minimum if we're carrying on with this. 10 forumers at 10 quid each? 20 of you putting in a fiver each? If you want to go ahead, we'll start a list.
Opinions please chaps.
