When I bought my first bike in 72 I was paying about 35p gallon.
I remember needing petrol on the way back to base on the A36 and asked a copper where I could find some. he said there was a station down the road which you put a pound note it and I filled up the tank (Just over 2 gallons) and there was still about 20p left on the clock  Shocked
During 73/74 we were isssued with petrol tokens (But never used) and they put it up to 50p just after.

Well I reckon it was about 1969 or 70 cos we lived in Worcestershire at the time and were involved in car rallying.  The local garage sponsored us by knocking off the extra pennies over the ten bob!

Was in my local BP station the other night. They have a CCTV monitor above the counter. as cars pull in a computer checks their registrations. Not taken much notice of it before, but a posh looking Jeep pulled up to the pumps & an alarm immediately started up. A message flashed up on the screen saying something like Vehicle has previously driven away without paying. Do not serve this vehicle.
