Hi Chris,
Some very useful photos there. If you've looked at my Pop build thread here or in the Motors, 4 wheels section of the main site, you'll see I'm way behind you, but kinda heading in the same direction.
I've just decided to go for a new box section chassis from Valley Gas Speed Shop. Just a basic rectangle of the right length & width in heavy guage box with the necessary kick up at either end to accomodate the low ride height I'm after. I'm keeping the original Pop bonnet top panel & grille but leaving the sides open like yours. I suggested to Jimmy at Valley Gas that we could move the standard Pop beam out from under the chassis & mount it on a perch, but he thouught it'd make the nose too long & out of proportiion. Looks like it works on yours though, so I'll be showing him the photos of yours when I go back.
I think I may be contacting you to pick your brains on a regular basis!
Oh, & welcome to the site by the way!

And I thought
my
Pop was taking a long time!
So can I shove the front beam out front on a perch, ahead of the engine & still use the standard Pop bonnet panels & grille?

The Flintstones are too clever for me.
I'll be paying you a visit tomorrow Mr Lunatic. Got your rent money, but also need to take a few measurements for the new chassis.
Chris, I'd imagined the motor would end up buried in the bulkhead, with the driver sitting in the back seat. Looking at yours, not so. Good job too cos I won't be able to move the seats in mine!
A question- what's the measurement from ...I dunno, the front edge of the door, to the centre of the front spring hanging cross member?

The cross member's 4 miles away from the bulkhead?!
No wonder the engine fits so easily.
