Made up the flanges for the rear axle, getting better with the shrinker/stretcher. Might even have a go at re-doing the fuel flap if there is time. Pics will explain the process. Both sides done still need to do below the front axle but will probably do the push bar next as I have removed the rear body section at this moment. Cheers, so push bar next, now this is one item that we do not need as the car has its own starter and is geared low enough to start from a stand still unlike a real lakester. Plus I don't believe you can push start an automatic. So a simple frame work was made to bolt on behind the fuel tank to hold the push bar. Started with notch in the fuel tank mount so we can fit a bracket behind it. D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank Cut the already bent piece to length. D72 British Bellytank Drilled a hole in the tail for the push bar. D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank Made the 'T' bar which is to be removable for storage reasons, 8" is valuable hoarding room in lockup. D72 British Bellytank Bolted the plate to go behind the fuel tank mount to the chassis. D72 British Bellytank Welded top of frame to the bracket that goes behind fuel tank and a lower bar from the rear axle body mount. D72 British Bellytank All back to the rear . D72 British Bellytank Looking like this. D72 British Bellytank And fuel tank back in. D72 British Bellytank We now have a mount which I will shorten and drill a hole through for a retaining bolt to hold the 'T'bar. D72 British Bellytank And done. Pushed the car outside to get a look . Even though the car is not on level ground you can see the bottom needs more trimming so pushed back in and started strip down for marking up new cut line. D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank

Looks fabulous. So will you be leaving the bottom open to the road/track, or adding a flat floor panel?

Thanks for the positive comments. The floor is going to be flat with more vents in the side of the bottom body. Pushed car over the pit and removed most of the internal parts so a new cut line could be marked. D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank Then made sure car was level before putting a self leveling spinning laser thingy on a tripod in the pit with the laser shinning inside the body, not the best thing to take a picture off. D72 British Bellytank Lights back on and pit boards back in, and the perfect new cut line for a flat bottom. D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank

Most of the fabrication is done now, most problems solved so stripped the rest down for final welding/grinding/shaping and tabs. Finish all that soon then paint and start the real build up. May not be much to post unless you really want to literally watch paint dry. Only risk now, is if I get bored/distracted by something else, this may get parked up next to the trike and left for a bit (5 years) Apparently I am showing early signs of post project blues. Sorry -Archie's our resident yoof. It's in the rules -we have to have one for every 10 old fogies. Don't abandon it now please -I'm really looking forward to watching this run at Shakey this year -if you need a tow truck I might know of a V8 Pop pick-up that'll be at the Hotrod Drags & Nostalgia Nationals.

No chance of stopping now, but the mind does wander. Nearly did stop the whole project about a year ago when this stupid dog of mine jumped out the bedroom window resulting in a leg like this. D72 British Bellytank No local vets could fix it so they sent me to these nice people. Fitzpatrick referrals. The TV supervet. D72 British Bellytank Who did this D72 British Bellytank Gave me back a drugged up dog like this. D72 British Bellytank And told me to keep him in here for 8 weeks. Yeah right oh. D72 British Bellytank Oh and a total bill (no insurance) of £3300...... Project funds took a hammering.
