D72 British Bellytank With the top on roughly and knowing where the seat would now be we marked out a possible hole and then cut away the minimum required to at least get an idea for the height of the roll hoop behind driver.

D72 British Bellytank With the hoop in and body back on we could now start the spine. Made a very thin section of the body and placed over the main body before marking out with tape the rough idea of what we wanted.

Looking great guys. I was wondering what you were doing about cooling, but see you've got a rad' laid on top of the gearbox. I kinda assumed you'd leave the bottom of the body open & lay the rad' flat underneath -obviously it'd be very vulnerable but it ain't exactly a road going vehicle, (it'd be cool if it was though). Will you be adding scoops to that new section of body? And a motor plate between those spinning pulleys & the back of your head might be nice Here's an ali' bodied 'tank racer I saw at the Rockin' Jalopys show in Holland in 2014.

Cheers chaps, we were going to fit a rad underneath between the rails but clearance would have been tight and vulnerable, so next best place was above gearbox. A plate will be going across the seat back by the pulleys for my own piece of mind after we have worked out the 5 point harness mounts. Everything from the firewall forward will be enclosed under the seat. Will post pics of the rest after the spine. If there are too many pics or you see anything wrong/stupid please do say.
Kev.

Been quietly watching this build from the side lines, and am finding it really interesting, partly from a tech perspective and partly as its properly different. Have to say am also impressed by the rate of progress, keep up the good work!

D72 British Bellytank To make the spine I used a different method this time, instead of polystyrene I used a sheet of insulation this time as I discovered the insulation did not react with the filler, so no sealing with PVA before filling. Used a bread knife to cut rough shapes before sticking on with 'sticks like s**t'. Honest.

D72 British Bellytank Way more than needed, but easier to remove now than add with filler later.
