I was stood at the back of my Post Office van, sorting out bags of Mail today, but as I went to walk back to the cab, I couldn't  move -my shoes had stuck to the melted tarmac.
A couple of streets further on, I suddenly heard a whuuump & looked up to see a metal paint tin lid go spiralling up into the air above a garden fence & fall back to earth. Moments later a rather shocked looking householder appeared -apparently he'd left a big tin of wood stain in the garden, ready to paint his fence & it'd exploded in the heat. He said "On the plus side, I've just repainted my shed in 5 seconds flat"!
The temperature guage in my Post Office van was reading 36 degrees this afternoon -nearly 100 degrees in old money. No wonder I was boiling.
Took my car to the Polish hand car wash on the way home for a wash & "Polish". You have to sit in the car with the windows wound up while they wash the outside, then get out so they can do the interior. No air con in mine & I was absolutely drenched in sweat by the time I was allowed out -no wonder dogs die in hot cars.
Apparently it's going to be cloudier next week so the temperature will drop.
Thank Gawd!

If they were washing the car by hand why did you need to sit in it?  Huh  Perhaps they make the English customers do it in order to get back at them for voting Leave!  Grin

As to your reference to dogs in cars in hot weather, I think the best example was when they put a full sized ice sculpture of a dog in a car to show how quickly it would melt, even with the windows open a bit. Unbelievably fast.

I was definitely melting.
You have to keep moving the car forward, through the jet washy bit, the soapy sponge bit etc when they tell you to. They do a very good job, but the whole thing takes about half an hour.

That's crazy hot!
I went out for a walk yesterday evening. At 10.30 at night, stood on top of a hill in open countryside, my phone still said it was 23 degrees.
I appreciate it's helping your ailments Steve, but it's doing me no good at all! Sad

We were in Peckham today on a rooftop bar - 4 or 5 stories up

It’s warmer closer to the sun - car was reading 36 on the way back

Can believe it I’m like a lobster now

Cool Peckham? Get you with your crazy jet set lifestyle Smiley
I've been at a classic car show in Surrey. Stood in a field all day with no shelter at all. I am equally lobsterish Sad
