Just count the teeth against a rule. If it looks like an M8 x 1.25 then it's 5/16" unc

It's a 2-2.5mm hole on the top of one of the tubes about 175mm from where the tube goes into the diff. Because it's so small it can disappear with a thick coat of paint.

Theres only a hole in one side. I found mine eventually, and drilled it out bigger to accomodate a breather tube. Otherwise just drill a new one.

Has your axle been 'turned over'? This is done on some 'bike trikes' to get the right axle rotation, or have the tubes been replaced?

breather hole in axle tubes, had a good look round it but cant find one , does any one know where it could be located, or if i should do my own one and where i should drill it thanks When I rebuilt my axle, I used 6mm wall thickness outer tubes to replace the original 2mm wall ones. I then welded a 10mm o/d breather outlet tube to it which in turn has a K&N filter slipped over it....sorted
