Can someone tell me how the swing arm is generally attached to the frame?
 Is it by.....
 1) bearing  ..needle roller or other type?
  2)Bush..brass (or possibly metalistic type?)

  3) other?

Is the 'spindle' of the bearing(s) one long bar or are the sides separated?
    Thanks in advance

This wont really help you but,... Yes can be the answer to all your questions. It`ll be very much dependant on the model of bike. The pic shows a general swing arm configuration.

If I was to build a back end with seperate swing arms, I would use at least two big roller bearings in each.
Lot of stress in the back there, and you can never over-engineer enough.

Quite agree! Just trying to get an idea of "industry standard" lol!
so number 2 is the spacer, and there are needle rollers in the ends. Out of interest ,whats the number 4's?

Just my 2 1/2 pence worth.
I personally would go for the same sort of triangular arm as in the green trike pics, but with a big bearing in each end, with a smaller diameter collar holding it in place.

Idea so far is to build a 4 bar system, with the top bars joined by 2 bars running across the top of the prop area.@90 deg to the 4 bars. Not sure whether the 4 bars will be connected to the chassis by large rose joints,or something else. The axle end of the 4 bars def connect by rose joints to the axle brackets ,which will also act as mounts for the coilovers ,sited just behind the axle. What do you think? Complicated to explain ,and no good at getting sketches on here! Will make the bars and cross bars from polished stainless tube.

Whatever suits you best, mate. Its all trial and error.
All I can say is don't skimp on your materials and keep it simple.

Try these guys for rose joints. One of the cheapest suppliers I've found & very quick mail order service.

McGill Motorsports

Sounds like an interesting departure from the usual hardtail route. If you don't Photoshop, you could always sketch your design, photograph it & post the photo.  Smiley
