AMAL RELIANT ?
«

Has anyone any experience of using an Amal concentric on the Reliant 850.
Recent pics of MMs xs650 reminded me that while gathering parts for Deliverance I came across a 32mm Amal, put it on a shelf and promptly forgot about it
Any ideas, thoughts or observations on this welcome (apart from possibility of Alzheimer's that is).

No reason why it wouldn't work I guess Dave. Loony & I were only talking about such ideas yesterday. Quite common now to see modern bike carbs on things like VW Golfs -it'd be quite cool to fit vintage bike carbs to vintage car engines.
I've got a pair of 26mm, 600 series Amals with 3" bellmouths for sale.

I tried an Amal on my Reliant many years ago, If I remember rightly it did work but used to ice up.

A bloke I worked with when I was an apprentice used to own 1930's Wolsley (well I think it was a Wolsley). He used to enter rallies and the such on one occasion he fitted multiple Amals as the rally allowed any modification that was available when the car was built so no EFI or turbos but superchargers and multiple carbs were allowed. Also a customer at work brought in a mk2 fiesta fitted with a 2.0 zetec and running 4 Mikuni carbs he said on an open day at Snetterton he beat his mate in a standard focus ST
