its the one at the rear above the chain tensioner, bloody 8mm. It was corroded to the head. When I put a squeeze on it snapped. So I reverted to heat and a tap to try and shock it, then the casing fell apart with porosity or rot or something that attacks alloy when in close contact with cadmium plated bolt. Last photo shows the broken casing

Hopefully its on the way to being finished. Been a long time since I fiddled with a bike engine. Tiz only metal and nuts and bolts, my old dad would say, it cannot think for itself.

My Dad used to say the same, but they regularly outwit me. Barrels look nice in black.

That's a big percussive persuasion tool I'm impressed -I struggled to lift the motor on my own. I'm guessing an exhaust stud scratched a front down tube? So what have you done to the motor while it's been out?

what have I done? Checked every bearing all good. Replaced every top end gasket. Had the barrels off and honed them. They are very good. I should have had it vapour cleaned etc. But the equipment was broken when I went, so settled for a good degrease. Hopefully the end of the mystery of this oil leak. Jap bikes don't leak oil, do they. Everything is checked and torqued, so fingers and eyes crossed. Looking forward to a good summer.
