Does anyone know how long DVLA will take to change my bolt on from a bike to a trike once i send them the forms?

my last one took a week.......
but that was a few yrs ago, before all the dvla changes,

tbh, everything I have done dealing with them lately have been very quick,
considering the average iq of dvla staff seems to be around 6

Hi

Can anyone confirm for me the sequence to register a bolt on conversion?

Looks like I get the MOT first then submit that with (from Klogans post June last year):

V627/1 Built up inspection report
V10 Licence application
Licence Fee
Weight Certificate
Current MOT Certificate.

Is that an MOT on the new trike, or the existing MOT on the bike?

Any advice greatly appreciated

Cheers Terry. It's SO confusing. Spoke with DVLA this aft, got through to the department that deals with this, told them what I was doing, they said don't need any forms, mot or weight cert, just an explanatory letter , a pic , and my log book. I can even ride it on the existing mot until renewal. I questioned that and he was adamant that even though there is a new rear end the existing mot is valid.

SOUNDS BONKERS TO ME.

May just send those details for his attention (I got his name), as I've no time to do the rest before I travel anyway.

You would think there was a set procedure for this, no one in authority seems to know!

Just thought I would finish this off on a positive. Klogan was absolutely on the money. Despite Dvla originally giving the wrong advice I eventually provided the information they needed and it took less than a week.

Here is the best bit.....

As my tax had run out by the time I sent the remaining information they couldn't transfer it. Did they send me another letter? No, they rang me up and sorted it over the phone. Hang on, that's not true, I wasn't in so the lady who called sorted it with Mrs Andy.  No nonsense about data protection, just common sense throughout. Mrs a sent them a cheque, the lovely lady In Swansea taxed it from the start of the next month (I was away and couldn't ride anyway) and it all worked.

So -1 for the initial bad advice +10 for the subsequent customer care.

Now all I have to do is persuade Mrs A that she's not my girlfriend in secret. Oh bugger

Grin When I put my truck through the SVA, I dealt with a woman at the Wimbledon DVLA office. A charming lady who really knew her stuff & went out of her way to help -even missing her train home to finish the final paperwork off so I didn't have to do it by Post. The DVLA are always portrayed as a huge faceless, uncaring, unreliable institution, but there are real people sifting through all that paperwork. You've just got to hope you find a good one.
