Just came across this on e-bay.

May suit a few of our members with disabilities ??

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/reliant-trike-special-sequential-gearbox-/121374034942?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c4274cbfe

Looks like it has been rotated by 180 degrees so the output flange is now higher than before, so not a simple drop in replacement, but for a new builder...Huh??

Not sure quite how it helps a disabled rider?

my understanding is you can change gear by just pushing and pulling the control? so it would be capable of making a foot gear change, or a lever on the bars, wouldnt that be an advantage to someone with upper arm probs or leg probs respectively ?

Should be easy to adapt for electric gear change (kliktronic) though I think a foot clutch would be required and looks like no reverse gear. It may have been built for 750 racing.

Spot on Olds, reply from the seller:
Dear andyrennison,

1. No reverse...as it is a motorcycle gearbox within the reliant housing.
2. It is hydraulic clutch slave, working an arm that will operate a reliant clutch on a reliant flywheel.

Interesting. Why the big chunks cut out of the bellhousing?
I often thought of using a Ural/Cossack/Dnieper box with a Reliant engine. Sequential gearchange, no gearstick to accommodate in the design, reverse on some models & a kickstart too!

Nearly did that, but as usual I never finished it. I have a swing axle VW gearbox in the shed now, and would like to fit a piggy lump to it. Either going to be rear-engined, or facing foward.
