producing for a laser cutter

Hi All
I found a local small steel shop who will give / sell me steel offcuts. They have also offered to cut up parts using their cnc machine. Whats the usual software to make the files i need to take them, is there some standard?

Most laser cutters use a . Dxf file generated in a basic cad software program like autocad , what are you looking to have cut? I can spare you a few gusset plates

Hi Andy, yes I will be asking them, just wanted to get a bit clued up before I go there. dxf is fine for me, I think I can manage that ok.
Steve, I am having "running boards" and infilled "walls" around the prop in stainless with patterned holes in, I will make them from hardboard first then cad them up I think. They will be pretty complex as I want the holes / motifes to sort of flow with the frame line. The thinking is to set the plates down slightly so they sid below the top of the frame. That way the skeleton of the trike will be on show and contract against the shiny stuff.
