Hi Everyone
Hope you are all okay. Chevy Rick keeps me pretty much updated but as with regards to most events, there hasn't really been much going on until more recently so I expect it has been pretty quiet. I expect most of us have been double dosed now and are getting back into the swing of things. Brave new world.
I recently wrote off my car and the only way I could feasibly get another one was to go down the Motability route. I have always been eligible but last time I preferred to buy a 6 month old car. 11 years later that car was worth sweet FA to the insurers. After first being told at loads of showrooms that I wouldn't be able to get a new car for 16-18 weeks because of Covid, Brexit, lack of silicon chips etc I am now leasing a Kia Soul EV First Edition. It's loaded with fancy stuff and does about 280 miles on a full charge. My only problem now is waiting for the actual installation of a charger. Not as straightforward as I was told it would be. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how I adapt to electric. I must say it is nippy and nothing like I expected an electric car to be. The acceleration is impressive and that was just in normal mode. I put it in sports mode once
but I felt I wasn't ready for it but it should be fun once I get used to the car.
At least leasing it I don't have to worry about resale etc or long term problems, and in the short term, Motability sort any problems. Just need the charging point!
Anyone else made the plunge into electric motoring yet? If so, I would be interested to hear about it.
Also got some questions on welding but I'll put them in a separate post.
