I've got a few days off before starting a new job so was going to throw some money at this - the gods must have heard though as I've now had to replace the power steering rack on the daily golf, so no play money this month now. Carried on practicing my welding though - started to click today so hopefully with some more practicing it should get a lot better. Hopefully. Welded up the front quarter panel today. Needs a bit of work as it kept blowing holes in the original metal, but will do for now. Archie's Volksrod We'll see what happens next! As I have no idea now.

Uncovered it for the first time in a while as a mate was having a photo shoot done on his audi wagon for audi driver and we hijacked one of the barns. I've also been in Edinburgh with work and came back to a nice little present. Archie's Volksrod The audi in question - diesel wagon on air and BIG wheels Archie's Volksrod Me present! Archie's Volksrod Managed to get them for £80, which is not bad considering they are about 150 to 200 new. I didn't have the money so my dad sprung for them and I owe him some time, but massively owe him as he has saved me a load in the long run. By fitting these it should allow me to run at the current height it's sitting. Currently the front arms are pretty much upright, so have no travel at all. The dropped spindles should drop by 2.5" which will allow us to wind the beam adjusters back up. Although it will be amusing to fit them and put the pan on the floor!

So, for the non V Dubbers among us, (including me), they're front wheel hub carriers, with offset spindles, to raise the wheels & thus lower the body?

Hey Mr Archie.. here is a cool little rod fitted with the same wheels as you've got... nice tyre combination If I had known I could get tyres that big on the rear I would have kept my spare pair of Y wheels

don't know if this would work on the VW wide 5's but this is an idea for converting your existing hubs.. might work...

Aye I was talking with Marcus earlier.
I was trying to find a shot of the adapters Dale had made for the white one, but can't seem to find his thread, but essentially they were 1 piece bolt ons with the supporting ring machined in.
Think he paid about £500 for them through Wisbech Engineering.
I think I might stick with the ford pop wheels for now - get some chunkier tires for the rear and then go from there!
