Coffee Grinder

For those of you who don't read custom car, just thought I'd share a true dedicated restoration, in memory of their dear friend Goff the Toff.

I had read custom car before going to wheels day and was captured by their determination to get their friends hot rod back on the road.

Coffee Grinder is allegedly one of the earliest 50s hot rod to be imported from the states, back in the 60s. On the sad passing of their friend Godfrey Langrishe-Smith, only the 2nd owner since being imported,

a guy from Custom Car was approached by a close-knit group of friends asking for help to restore it as a tribute.  None of them had ever had anything to do with hot rods before, but because Goff was quite a character, and they obviously thought a lot of him, they felt this was something they'd love to do.

It has been closely restored to how it would have looked, when originally built by Adam Coffee, back in the mid 50s, and was featured in many custom mags in America.  Now the restoration has finished one particular lady who knew Goff all his life, has recently been able to get in touch the original owner, Adam Coffee, who is still alive and living in the same town back in the states.

When we got to Wheels Day, Dave spotted the rod from a distance, so I wandered over, asked if they'd mind me taking pictures, and they even posed for one as well. They recollected memories of being driven around in this car by their friend, affectionately known as Goff the Toff, and recalled what fun they had at the time. One guy I spoke to, pointed out a plaque they had made up for the rod as a tribute to their friend.
